Purpose and objectives
The purpose and objectives of the Children's Orthopeaedic abnd Trauma Nursing Community are outlined below.
Purpose
- Networking - the community wishes to identify RCN members with an interest in children's orthopaedic nursing.
- Recognition - the community seeks to acknowledge all members’ contributions in shaping the future of children’s orthopaedic nursing and facilitate open channels of communication.
- Inclusion - the community embraces the views of children and young people.
- Education - the community facilitates learning that influences advanced clinical practice, audit and review current practice, and setting standards for best practice.
Objectives
2011-12
- To gain accreditation for the complete learning package, Festival of Learning.
- To improve benchmarks in the sector and consider writing standards.
- To raise the profile of children’s orthopaedic nursing, including junior and advanced roles.
Previous years
- To re-launch the project to identify and develop RCN good practice recommendation for children with complex needs who require surgical intervention.
- To have representation from the community at Congress.
