Purpose and objectives
Purpose
- Provide strategic direction and integration of communities work related to children, young people and their families
- Advise, influence and inform advisory panel decision-making and influence current and future health and social policy in the UK and beyond
- Facilitate work of communities including operation plans, project bids and congress activities
- Support shared activity across communities in Professional Issues Forum, between forums and externally
- Shape, drive and develop nursing practice and provide opportunities for support, advice and professional development
- Be a voice for CYP Professional Issues Forum members

Key objectives
2009-2010
Objective 1: Develop a clear communication strategy to engage members actively within communities and the Professional Issues Forum (web)
Objective 2: Establish an accessible and relevant online environment for each community which enables participation and collaboration
Objective 3: Establish a minimum of two collaborative projects which involve a number of communities within the forum
2010-2011
Objective 1: Review structure, communication and engagement strategy
Objective 2: Gather evidence of activity and collaboration across the forum/forums based on an effective matrix of communication
2012-2013
Objective 1: Establish awareness of forum existence through website and newsletters
Objective 2: Engage forum members in meaningful activity
Objective 3: Establish priority issues that will shape and drive nursing practice and identify 2-3 key issues to take forward as project bids
Objective 4: To complete a successful collaborative forum project bid by the end of 2012
