RCN CYP Specialist Care Forum objectives 2013-2014
To work with other RCN CYP forums and the nurse adviser in developing a shared work programme to raise the profile of children and young people within the RCN and at national policy level.
To develop and maintain a communications strategy that reaches and engages with the wider membership, and reports regularly and clearly on the work of the forum.
To update the forum web page and those of our constituent communities.
To publish an electronic newsletter three times a year.
To work across the forum and across all CYP groups to develop a position statement on specialist roles and advanced practice in CYP nursing.
To publish and disseminate revised guidance on Breaking bad news.
To review and update, as required, current RCN publications linked to the forum.
To complete the work arising from Congress resolution from 2012 - that this meeting of RCN Congress asks Council to oppose service redesign which results in the loss or fragmentation of specialist knowledge, expertise or staff who deliver quality services for vulnerable groups such as children and young people. The Forum has worked with RCN staff and colleagues on a document to provide guidance for nurses engaged in or challenged by service redesign.
