Annual meeting of the International Continence Society

Date: Monday 26- Friday 30 August 2013

ICS 2013 is a 5 day international event focused on cutting-edge issues, technologies and techniques in the field of Continence. The 43rd annual meeting will take place in beautiful Barcelona, Spain.

This continence congress is organised by the International Continence Society (ICS) and attracts more than 2,000 experts in the fields of urology, gynaecology, uro-gynaecology, physiotherapy, nursing, neurology and paediatric urology from over 70 different countries who gather annually to discuss the latest developments in continence medicine and research.  Leading continence experts will present a rich scientific programme covering breakthroughs in science, research and medicine. Urogenital Pain

Date: Friday 18 January 2013
Location: The Royal Society of Medicine, London

The Pain Medicine Section of the RSM is organising a meeting on Urogenital Pain.  Fees start as low as £55 for an RSM member and £70 for non-members.
 
This meeting will provide an overview of urogenital pain and how to manage this complex group of patients. It will also provide information about the science and aetiology behind UGP and define the epidemiology of UGP in the UK. You will be able to discuss the clinical picture, including investigations and specialised imaging in UGP; management strategies and options in UGP; and long term care and strategies in managing the patient with UGP.

Bowel and bladder problems in older people

Date: 10 October 2012.
Location: Liverpool Medical Institution (LMI).

The British Geriatrics Society (BGS) is supporting this one-day event which will cover:

  • best practice in continence management
  • bladder re-training and practical management in frail older people
  • focused sessions on constipation, bacteruria, nocturia and diarrhoea.

Why participate? The management of continence problems in older people is the responsibility of all health care professionals involved in the care of older people. Delegates will be able to:

  • understand more on the key bladder and bowel issues and challenges in geriatric populations
  • hear focused presentations and the latest research in bladder and bowel medicine in older people
  • network with other medical professionals within a specialist group.

Keeping well in the face of adversity: Long term conditions and mental health conference

Date: 7 November 2012, 09:00-16:30
Location: Sunley Management Centre, Park Campus, The University of Northampton, NN2 7ALP

People with long term physical conditions carry a high risk of developing psychological problems. When a person has poor mental health, it is more difficult to recover good physical health. People with long term mental health problems, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder have an increased chance of developing conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. This symposium will explore the two-way relationship between physical and mental health. This free event will include a light lunch. Register your attendance here.

RCN Continence Care Conference and Exhibition 

Date: 15 November 2012 - 16 November 2012
Location: International Convention Centre (ICC), Birmingham

What's in, what's out, and what nurses want to shout about - research in continence care. This conference showcases the latest developments in behavioural interventions, caring for patients with dementia and continence, continence care in care homes and the using decision tools to improve management of urinary incontinence in women. This event will provide an excellent forum for nurses working across all levels of continence care to come together to share best practice and remain up-to-date on the key issues affecting continence staff.
