Welcome

Can I introduce myself as the new newsletter editor for the RCN continence forum. Many of you will know me from my previous work with the Continence Forum and as the Continence Services Manager in Oxfordshire until 18 months ago when I left to move into Higher education – taking up a senior lecturing post at Coventry University.

If you have any items for the newsletter please send them to me via the RCN on community.editor@rcn.org.uk

There have been recent appoitnments for the forum committee to recruit new members and we hope that we can introduce the new committee at conference in November.

Don't miss this year's continence conference. The programme offers an update on many current issues and is a good way to update your knowledge and to discuss issues with colleagues. The conference has a health care assistant stream again this year and includes presentations on the assistant practitioner role within continence services which are becoming increasingly common.

Note from Adviser Amanda Cheesley

We are delighted to say that we have recently been successful in recruiting new members to the Continence Forum Committee vacancies and we will let you know who they are very soon. We were thrilled that so many people applied and we had very strong candidates so the committee will be at full strength again soon.

Please may we encourage you to let the Frontline First campaign know of any interesting work you are doing, any posts that are being lost, not recruited to or being downbanded. It is so important that we have the information about these things to enable us to showcase good work and highlight areas where staff are being lost.
