Quality in Care Diabetes (QiC) 2013 open for entry

The Quality in Care Diabetes 2013 programme recognises, rewards and shares good practice in diabetes management, education and patient care throughout the UK.
Now in its third year, QiC Diabetes offers you and your teams the chance for your diabetes initiatives to be recognised, rewarded and shared. The programme is supported by Sanofi Diabetes, Diabetes UK, TREND, PCDS, ABCD and YDEF and has had fantastic support from Anna Morton of NHS Diabetes to date. The National Clinical Director for Obesity and Diabetes, Jonathan Valabhji MD FRCP, has now pledged his support for the programme.

Diabetes in pregnancy: Insulin Pump Workshop

This interactive clinical update on the use of insulin pumps and continuous glucose sensors in pregnancy is suitable for all members of the MDT looking after women with type 1 diabetes.
The programme covers:
- What can be done to minimize the risk of hypoglycaemia in pregnancy?
- Are pumps and sensors the answer to hypoglycaemia in pregnancy?
- What technologies are available for managing glycaemic control?
- Is carbohydrate counting an essential part of the clinical management?
- What input is required from midwives and nurses to support pregnant women on insulin pumps?
- What can we learn from the women using insulin pumps?
- Debate: should all women on insulin pumps only be seen at designated specialist centres?
