Date for diary: conferences in 2010
Published: 04 November 2009
Your diabetes forum committee will be running a conference on Saturday 22 May and repeated on Tuesday 9 October so get these dates in your diary! Venues to be confirmed but one of the dates will be held in RCN headquarters in London and the other venue will be in the midlands or the north.
The theme will be "Pills and potions - the medical treatment of type 2 diabetes". It will consist of a series of discussions about the key areas of management: blood glucose, blood pressure, lipids and weight. The conference will address what the causes and underlying processes are for each area, the medications used, how they work, NICE guidelines, and some interactive case studies to keep the audience active!
The conference is aimed at nurses working as practice or district nurses, or working in hospital wards and nursing homes, who want a general understanding about the medications they are giving to their patients. It is not aimed only at nurses who are prescribers (although they will be very welcome).
For more information on these conferences, contact Suzanne Sinclair of RCN Events on suzanne.sinclair@rcn.org.uk or 020 7647 3581.
