Free learning unit updates nurses on diabetic complications
Published: 29 June 2011
Nursing Times Learning has collaborated with NICE to launch a free online learning unit on new NICE guidance on diabetic foot problems.
The unit was developed to inform nurses about the NICE clinical guideline Diabetic foot problems - inpatient management, published last month. It takes an average of one hour to complete.
Diabetic foot problems are a major cause of amputations, and patients should be admitted to hospital and treated as an emergency. However, their care varies across the NHS.
The new guideline recommends that all NHS trusts develop a care pathway and ensure patients with diabetic foot problems are cared for by a multidisciplinary foot care team.
For nurses who want to develop more indepth knowledge on this topic Nursing Times is also offering an advanced learning unit on managing diabetic foot problems at a cost of £5.
