Closure of RCN UK library

Work is beginning early next year to transform the RCN UK library in London into a dynamic learning space for members and the public to socialise, research, study and celebrate nursing.

The new learning environment will become home to a new history of nursing centre, showcasing the RCN’s archive material and historical collections, and will host exhibitions and talks on relevant nursing issues. The space will include a cafe and shop and will become an exciting destination to support nursing education, research and professional development.

To make way for these important changes, the library at Cavendish Square will be closed between 2 January and 4 February while we set up an interim service. During the interim service, from 4 February until the library reopens, you will still be able to access:

• key nursing titles published since 2007 plus all recent nursing journals
• the online library – with 1,000 e-journals and 1,100 e-books
• information databases such as the British Nursing Index, Medline and Cinahl
• desktop PCs and wifi (please contact the library to pre-book)
• the RCN Learning Zone – to update your portfolio and CV
• expert help from our library staff.

The new library will be open from summer 2013.

Round-the-clock online resources

While the library is closed, access to the RCN’s huge collection of online resources will remain available and information experts will be on hand to answer your queries by phone and via the virtual enquiry service. Go to the HQ replan web pages For more information.
