Ian Woodburn

As a Business Change Manager within an NHS Health Informatics Department I work with Clinical Services to implement IT systems, enabling beneficial service improvement.
In previous roles I have:
- Facilitated and implemented a telehealth project and the use of an integrated IT system in partnership with social services, monitoring patients at home with Long Term Conditions.
- As a Service Improvement Facilitator for Cancer I facilitated and implemented an Electronic MDT tool and developed a system to track the Cancer patient journey across the hospital and tertiary sites using the existing hospital electronic patient administration system. This resulted in the improvement of patient journey times and supporting the secondary care provider data robustness to meet their Cancer Targets.
- As a Shift Leader/Senior Nurse at NHS Direct I was a key player in the implementation of the pre-elective surgery screening programme.
I have vast RCN experience, having been an active member of the RCN and held the following offices: Branch Chair; Lead/Convenor of Stewards covering both primary and secondary care; and Learning Representative.
I intend to further the use of IT systems and supporting technologies to drive service improvement, facilitating reduction in nursing / clinical time used duplicating core information, resulting in extra time for patient care.
This could be achieved by the implementation of systems that facilitate interfacing, reducing the need for duplication of core patient information. I also intend to promote mobile working for clinicians enabling access to information in the right place at the right time.
