Psychiatry in the acute setting
Published: 24 August 2010
The ECA has become involved in a collaborative project with the Royal College of Psychiatrists. The Psychiatric Liaison Accreditation Network (PLAN) is a self- and peer-reviewed report of liaison psychiatry services.
In many areas, liaison psychiatry provides assessment to patients attending urgent care settings, where they require a formal mental health assessment. One of the ECA’s committee members, Richard Brownhill, is on the accreditation panel, and we hope this will allow us to advocate on patient and staff perspectives in the acute setting. There are some great examples of services doing very well when they work with and support emergency and urgent care using a responsive and collaborative approach. For further details on the ECA’s involvement in this, please email Richard Brownhill on: richardbrownhill@blueyonder.co.uk.
