Mission statement
This RCN Forum has over 3000 members and aims to provide a professional network for support for nurses from all areas gastrointestinal care.
Aims
Primary aim
The primary aim of the Forum is to develop, promote and maintain excellent standards of gastrointestinal (GI) nursing care across the United Kingdom.
The Forum also aims to:
• Provide an effective communication network between Forum members.
• Provide a strong, recognised voice for GI nurses amongst nursing, medical, allied health profession, political bodies and patient groups.
• Promote quality educational opportunities that support standards of GI care.
• Promote and support GI nursing audit, research and publication.
• Work closely with other Key GI nursing groups
Forum Objectives for 2012
• To launch the competency framework for liver nurses.
• To complete the RCN National IBD nursing audit, publish and disseminate it’s results.
• To plan and run an effective nurses day at the first DDF conference in 2012 and engage in future conferences as a full partner.
• To review the Forum website, getting feedback from users to increase it’s usage.
• To approach relevant nursing stakeholders and work collaboratively with them.
• To produce a 3 yearly GI Forum newsletter for all Forum members.
• To set up links with other key GI nursing groups
