Advanced Ileo-anal pouch workshop - Date: 18 July 2013

A one-day workshop on the management of ileo-anal pouches and related complications. This workshop will allow individuals to gain confidence in managing pouch patients and possibly develop and implement nurse-led clinics within their own hospital settings.

The day will focus on surgical and medical management of ulcerative colitis and pouchitis, nursing care including enhanced recovery, diet and nutrition, fertility, fecundity and sexuality involved with managing the pouch patient. Current research, protocol and guideline development will be presented. There will be practical case studies and discussions which will be helpful for those thinking about setting up and managing a pouch nurse-led clinic.   

It is recommended that an example of a clinical case is brought for discussion.

Target audience: Specialist stoma care nurses who look after ileo-anal pouch patients.
Workshop limited to 20 people.
