The first symposia of the UK Digestive Disorders Federation - June 2012

Published: 02 December 2011

The RCN Gastrointestinal Nursing Forum has been asked to co-ordinate the nurse education programme for the first UK Digestive disorders Federation (DDF) meeting in Liverpool from 17 to 20 June 2012. The forum has worked together with other nursing organisations to bring together an exciting programme.

This is the first time this type of symposia has been organised in the United Kingdom and it is hoped it will be held on a regular basis. This opportunity allows nursing staff working in many of the diverse areas of gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition and other specialities to meet in a multi professional forum with their medical and surgical colleagues.

This event starts for nursing staff on Sunday 17 June with a nursing-specific day focusing on specialist practice and service delivery within the political arena. Nurses will be an integral part of the whole programme taking part and speaking in the main arenas.

The programme is nearing completion and will be released soon.

Nursing staff can submit abstracts via the nursing section or alternately via the medical sections. The deadline for abstracts is 20 January 2012. The best papers submitted under the nursing section will be selected for oral presentation and a prize for the best papers presented on Sunday 17 June.

This is a unique opportunity for multi-stakeholder involvement, success will rely on the contribution of all relevant specialist organisations, and we thank them for their contributions so date.
