UKRC 2012

For those of you who have never attended, the United Kingdom Radiological Congress (UKRC) is the leading annual national conference on medical imaging. It brings together delegates from all of the professions and sectors involved in imaging to discuss the latest developments in technology and policy and to share best practice in clinical imaging and imaging science.

I was, therefore, proud to be among a small group of imaging nurses asked to present at the first ever nurses’ session at UKRC 2012, with the theme “Nurses in imaging departments, a luxury or a necessity?”.

The session was moderated by Elaine Wright, Lead Nurse in Radiology at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.

There was a larger than expected audience which included members of the NHS Improvement team. The presentations stimulated various discussions and were all well received.

Following the conference we were informed that due to the positive feedback received we would be invited to put on a session in 2013. The theme of this session has not yet been decided but we will no doubt be on the look-out for willing (or slightly unwilling) volunteers to present.
