ING Scotland
Welcome
The aim of the ING Scotland section is to promote discussion about and involvement in eHealth developments and events which are unique to Scotland. The information will be of interest to members who live and work in Scotland as well as members from other parts of the UK.
The Information in Nursing Group exists for all nurses who have an interest in the use of clinical information regardless of which part of the UK they live and work in. However, each of the four UK countries are implementing eHealth and Information and Communication Technology strategies in their own unique way. To reflect this, ING have ensured that there is a representative from each UK country on its Steering Committee.
The current Steering Group representative for Scotland is Alison Wallis and she can be contacted at alison.wallis@nhs.net
Your contribution is essential to make sure that this page can achieve its aims. Are you aware of an eHealth event or resource which affects nurses in Scotland? If so, please share it by contacting Alison Wallis
Another way for you to make your voice heard is by using the IN Forum community discussion zone to generate a debate about topics of interest. (Please note that this requires the user to be logged in via My RCN.)
NMAHP eHealth in Scotland
NMAHP eHealth update, March 2010
Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals (NMAHPs) are involved in the eHealth agenda in Scotland. The NMAHP eHealth ambassador group has representatives from acute, community and mental health nursing, midwifery and the allied health professions from across Scotland.
This group is led by Heather Strachan, NMAHP eHealth Lead within the Scottish Government.
"The Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions contribution to realising benefits of the National eHealth Programme" was published in 2007. This outlines four aims:
- to improve NMAHP leadership and engagement in eHealth
- to build NMAHP eHealth capabilities through education and development
- to deliver a fit for purpose infrastructure and workable solutions for NMAHPs
- to utilise eHealth systems to advance knowledge management for NMAHPs
More details are available in the full report
An update of NMAHP eHealth achievements can be viewed at the NHSScotland eHealth website at http://www.ehealth.scot.nhs.uk/
The NMAHPs are supported by the NMAHP eHealth Managed Knowledge Network which sits within the eLibrary and is a portal for eHealth resources and contacts. This is available at www.nmahp.scot.nhs.uk/home.aspx
