A free event for the brothers and sisters of people with mental illness

On Saturday 02 March 2013, the charity Rethink Mental Illness will be holding a free day of talks and workshops for the adult brothers and sisters of people with a mental illness.
 
They have a great line-up of speakers and workshop leads including Catherine Gamble, Molly McCloskey, Jo Smith, Jacqueline Sin and Mike Slade among many others and attendees will get the chance to gain practical and emotional support and information and meet others to share experiences and advice.
 
“I don't feel so alone in facing the issue of mental ill-health in my family. Meeting others in a similar situation has made me feel supported” – a sibling who attended last year’s event

Venue: The Hotel Russell

Time: 10.30 am – 5.00 pm
Free event with lunch and refreshments provided.
 
Attendees will get practical advice on a variety of topics such as:
• communication skills within the family
• talking to professionals
• planning for the future
• adjusting to change
• supporting your sibling’s recovery
 
They will also get the chance to meet other siblings and share experiences and advice.

Who should come?

Anyone aged 18 or over (with no upper age limit) who has a brother or sister affected by mental health problems.
