I work as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Renal) within a NHS Trust. I am the clinical manager of the Renal Unit, meaning I am directly involved with overseeing and prescribing patient care. Another colleague oversees staff management although our paths cross fairly frequently. I undertake policy/procedural development and update. I am a Nurse Independent Prescriber prescribing a variety of medications both for in-patients and out-patients. I oversee a case load of patients with chronic kidney disease. Currently, I work about one/two days per week in haemodialysis and the rest is autonomous. I am also involved in Trust training and have undertaken lecturing in the past at a university, albeit briefly.

I qualified as a RN in 1995 and have worked in the UK, Jersey and Australia in both acute, and chronic renal nursing. I have also worked in medical admissions which was fun if a little frantic! I worked briefly for a charity post-Tsunami in Thailand in 2005. I have undertaken both BSc and MSc. I would love to undertake a PhD but have no idea how to fit it in. I have previously written a very small part of an A&P book hence can call myself an author. I shall be working at the 2012 Olympic Games.
