The RCN Advanced Nursing Practice Forum has updated its guidance on advanced nursing practice, advanced nurse practitioners and programme accreditation. An RCN Guide to advanced nursing practice, advanced nurse practitioners and programme accreditation The RCN published this document (updated from the 2008 version) on advanced nursing practice in May 2012 as part of the RCN Competences series. Enhancement of patient safety and assurance of high quality advanced nursing care are the main aims of this guide, the body of which outlines the criteria through which higher education institutions (HEIs) can map and validate their curriculum outcomes, and audit student fitness to practise at this level.
Medicines management project 2012

At our annual meeting at RCN headquarters in London on 8 February 2012, the ANP Forum discussed a potential work plan for 2012–13. After much debate it was decided that we would focus on a project that would support better medicines management.
