Call for reviewers

The Department of Health has asked the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) to develop guidance for the following drugs and procedures.  The RCN is seeking nurses with knowledge and experience to participate in this work when it commences.  Please contact caroline.rapu@rcn.org.uk by 28 February 2010 if you are interested in participating in this work on behalf of the RCN.

Proposed technology appraisals:

• Deferasirox for the treatment of chronic iron overload
• Lorcaserin hydrochloride for the treatment of obesity and overweight
• Bivalirudin for the treatment of myocardial infarction (persistent ST-segment elevation)
• Colistimethate sodium powder for the treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa lung infection in cystic fibrosis
• Roflumilast for the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• Risperidone long-acting injection for the maintenance treatment of bipolar I disorder
