Letter from the new RCN Primary Care Adviser - Rebecca Cheatle
Published: 21 September 2012
Hello,
This is my first piece to you as the new RCN Primary and Community Care Adviser and I am thrilled to be here.
By way of introductions, I qualified as a nurse in 1992 and, after several years pursuing a career in psychology, I returned to nursing. I spent a few years as a practice nurse before moving on to work in teaching and development roles within primary care trusts (PCTs) and strategic health authorities (SHAs), specifically in the area of advanced nursing practice.
I have worked for the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as its adviser for non-medical prescribing and advanced nursing practice.
More recently I have held senior roles in independent companies, such as United Health and Virgin Care Ltd, which deliver NHS primary medical services.
My first few months have gone very well; staff and members have been really welcoming. What has struck me is the enthusiasm and professionalism shown by all I’ve come in contact with. I am very much looking forward to working with you all.
As the work of the ANP forum moves forwards we have to say goodbye to its chair. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jenny Aston for all her hard work and dedication over the last few years and wish her good luck for the future.
Rebecca Cheatle
