Iain McGregor - Vice-Chair

Iain has been registered as a nurse for almost 5 years now and has focused his work so far on care of the Older Person and Independent Sector working. He currently is the Teaching, Learning and Quality Assurance Manager for a national healthcare training organisation, although has previously held a range of clinical and training roles for other companies across the UK.
Iain's passions lie with improving and developing care for people with Dementia and End of Life Care, he is currently studying towards his MSc in Practice Education and hopes to move on to his PhD. Iain is actively involved in the training and development of staff and delivers a range of courses within his current work environment. Iain would like to eventually become a lecturer/tutor in Higher Education and carry on his promotion of Older People's Nursing through this means.
Iain is also involved with speaking to Pre-reg student nurses to try and dispell the myths and ideas that are often associated with working within the Independent Sector and more specifically within care homes. He also actively encourages Newly-Qualified Nurses to consider both as a viable career option outside that of the NHS.
Iain was previously invovled in the RCN on a national level, sitting on the Association of Nursing Students Executive Committee representing Scotland and held the Vice-Chair of this committee also. Iain is the current Vice-Chair of the RCN Older People's Forum having been reappointed and elected recently. Iain also sits on the Editorial Advisory Board for the Nursing Older People Journal
Iain has also been selected as the Web Editor for the RCN Older People's Forum online community.
