PhD, BSc(Hons), PGCEA, RN, HEA
Senior Lecturer (Clinical) in the Care of Older People at the University of Surrey
Khim has a long standing interest in gerontological nursing in the past two decades, having completed her PhD in the sociology of ageing, focusing on gender and the negotiation among older people and their family carers in the prevention of falls.
Previously a Director of Studies of the MSc Advanced Practice, she now focuses on research and teaching in her specialist area. Apart from this, she also has close links with other organisations including Age UK Surrey of which she is a Trustee, and the British Society of Gerontology for which she was once their Treasurer.
She is a member of the Editorial Advisory board for a major book series ‘Ageing and the Lifecourse’ for Policy Press. She has worked closely with other EU partners on gerontological nursing.
Being a committee member of this Forum will enable me to take an active role in encompassing education, research and practice; highlight the contributions that nurses can make in gerontological nursing; enhance the quality of care for patients and their family and extend the Forum’s presence within the EU and beyond.
