Rachel would like to thank those of you who contributed to the survey that was circulated and would like to apologise if you were not included as it was a very tight turn around.
For information, the new version is now available and was officially launched along with a new report on care homes on the 26 February 2013. They are also developing an online version, and a bilingual version is being produced for Wales.
The Alzheimer’s Society has agreed to send out some hard copies to those who were involved in the survey and left their contact details.

Age UK Malnutrition Taskforce update

It is estimated that nearly one million older people in England are at risk of malnutrition. The Malnutrition Task Force was set up to set up to raise awareness, identify and manage malnutrition in older people and to help prevent people being caught in a spiral of decline as medical professionals often fail to spot the warning signs of malnutrition.
New research into influences on care cultures

The Care Home Organisations Implementing Cultures of Excellence (CHOICE) research project used in-depth case studies of care homes for older people to investigate the relationship between the organisational culture of the home and the quality of care experienced by residents. The findings establish the key elements of positive care cultures and provide concrete examples of the everyday practices that enhance or inhibit their creation.
