What's new

Having had a little lull in the activity of the group a study day was organised at Keele University with the venue and food kindly provided by the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

The following presentations were delivered:

  • Developing a clinical academic career: the implications of the UKCRC report
    Rebecca Jester

  •  The outcomes of phenomenological inquiry exploring the lived experience of patients with advanced osteo-arthritis whilst awaiting total hip/knee replacement surgery.
    Gail Parsons

  • Pin site care: why isn’t evidence based practice working?
    Julie Santy

  • Search engines, searching and e-communication
    Peter Davis

  • Discussion around the purpose and aims of NEBPOT
    Mark Limb

All evaluated particularly well and were regarded as highly pertinent issues in the field of orthopaedics and trauma. Some will be presenting in Doncaster for the Journal of Orthopaedic Nursing Conference which takes place in July. All are encouraged and welcome to attend.

With regards to the discussion around the purpose and aims of NEBPOT it was noted that the previous year had seen little activity and some discussion centred around the future of the group and it’s existence. However, the day was quite successful and it was decided that the group would remain at least as an information conduit with the potential to deliver study days where necessary. Further discussion will take place at the Doncaster meeting in July to finalise this.
