View Source Intentional rounding is a structured, evidence-based approach by nurses to carrying out checks on individual patients at set intervals to assess their fundamental care needs. Also known as proactive patient ward rounds, intentional rounding involves reviewing patients at one or two-hour intervals (depending on their conditions and specific needs) and has been shown to reduce the frequency of call bell use, improve patient satisfaction and reduce complaints.
