Welcome to the RCN Perioperative Forum
The RCN Perioperative Forum represents the professional interests of staff working in settings where surgical care is being given. This includes preoperative assessment and outpatient clinics, surgical wards, operating departments and post-anaesthetic care/recovery rooms.
Benefits of membership
By joining and contributing to the forum your messages contribute to the national and international communities. The forum steering committee ensures that the ideas and concerns of members are recognised by the RCN and other relevant external agencies. You will receive regular updates and copies of our newsletter, "The Cutting Edge". Your letters, emails and contributions to online discussions shape the work that we do on your behalf.
Delivering your message
The Perioperative Forum represents your interests both in the UK and abroad and we influence the future of perioperative care by:
- meeting and lobbying government ministers and their opposition counterparts
- developing guidance and position statements about important issues in perioperative careparticipating in meetings with government and other external stakeholders
- working with other perioperative organisations like the Association for Perioperative Practice and The Perioperative Care Collaborative
- representing perioperative care issues at RCN Congress
- working with international groups like the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses
How do I join?
If you're not yet a member of the Perioperative Forum, what are you waiting for? RCN members can join up to three forums free of charge, and benefits include regular e-newsletters from the forum keeping you up to date on topics such as good practice and forthcoming events. Each forum also has its own area on the RCN's Discussion Zone where you can network with others in your specialty. To join just call RCN Direct on 0345 772 6100 - option 1.
Make a difference: be a link-member
If you would like to take an active part in the work of the forum you can do so by becoming a link member and channeling communication between your work-mates and the forum. We are always happy to recruit new link members from all regions of the United Kingdom.
