Public Health Conference
The RCN Public Health Forum hosted the RCN’s first Public Health conference to discuss and examine the interlinked factors that impact on public health on Friday 17 February 2012 at the Novotel West, Hammersmith, London.
Sandra Grieve, Chair of the RCN Public Health forum said in her opening speech:
“This is the first time that we have brought together the breadth of public health nursing, all of the different strands of specialism as well as generalists and those who work at the strategic level. We very much hope that you enjoy this approach and are able to strengthen professional links with other groups of nurses who deliver the same shared public health outcomes.“
Keynote speeches were given by Professor Sir Michael Marmot, Director of the new UCL Institute of Health Equity, and Professor Viv Bennett, Department of Health Director of Nursing and Government’s Principal Advisor on Public Health Nursing. The conference was closed by Professor Dame Carol Black, the government’s Expert Adviser on Health and Work.
