Alison KedwardAlison Kedward is Consultant Nurse in Cardiac Care at Swansea NHS Trust. Her role combines experienced clinical practice in direct patient care, research and education with policy, service development and modernisation on a strategic level.

Inspired by a lead ward sister and a medical physician colleague who shared a deep interest in cardiology, Alison has worked over the years in many areas of the cardiac patient's journey. Among career highlights, she's initiated a hospital and community cardiac rehab service and developed liaison nurse roles in cardiac care, working across the hospital and community. She recently developed the consultant nurse-led Interface Model of Cardiac Care, taking the CCU forward as a service rather than a four walled unit. This model supports primary care and nurse-led follow up clinics.

A born moderniser, Alison believes in crossing traditional boundaries for patient benefit and in developing integrated cardiac nursing. Her current clinical practice is cardiology and the heart failure clinic. Recent projects include improving care for ACS and pre-discharge preparation.

She is active with RCN Wales and the Consultant Nurse and Midwife Cymru Group. She also works with Age Concern (Neath Port Talbot).
