NICE

National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is responsible for providing national guidance on the promotion of good health and the prevention and treatment of ill health. NICE issues guidance to the NHS in England and Wales.

The RCN is a consultee/stakeholder for NICE guidance development, including guidance on health technology appraisals, public health interventions and programmes, interventional procedures and national clinical guidelines. The RCN relies on members who have relevant expertise and are specialists in the topics being considered to contribute to the consultation process.

You can see existing NICE cardiovascular guidelines including completed guidance and those in development on the NHS National Institute for Health and Clinical website.

NICE is currently consulting on the draft guideline for the management of MI secondary prevention guideline which can be accessed from the NICE website.  Please send  your comments to Caroline Rapu: caroline.rapu@rcn.org.uk .
