Children and young people community
These pages provide you with practical advice and information, latest news, forthcoming events and links to other child health sites. Most importantly they allow you to get involved in the RCN’s policy activity, to have your say in UK child health and nursing developments.
You can also find out more about the many professional forums and groups that members have formed to take forward practice and education in both general and specialist areas of children’s and young people’s health care.
The RCN supports members by providing information, advice and workplace support. It also supports them in raising concerns about the care of children and young people and the protection of their rights as individuals. If you have a question or concern that is not addressed on this website please contact RCN Direct on 0845 772 6100.
We hope you find this initial content useful; it will be continuously expanded and we welcome your input.

Better at home campaign
Better at Home is a new campaign which aims to highlight the issue of children and young people with long term and often complex health conditions who spend a long time in hospital but, with the right support, could be cared for at home. The campaign is also calling for greater investment in Children’s Community Nurses who are vital to ensuring that the support is available for families once they take their child home.
WellChild is working in partnership with the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) on this campaign. For further information please see the Better at home campaign on the Wellchild website.
