Independent School Nurses (1167)
The independent school nurses group is a subgroup of the School nurses forum. It was started in 1994 by Marylyn Watts from Marlborough College who became aware of the isolation of independent school nurses.
Its original aims were to:
- establish within the profession that the position of a nurse in an independent school differs significantly from that of a school nurse in the maintained sector
- introduce a recognised training for boarding school nurses ideally based on a distance learning package
- provide and regularly update an information pack for school nurses in the independent sector
- provide an annual study day for the purposes of PREP.
Purpose
- To assist nurses working in the isolated field of independent school nursing.
Aims
- To maintain and improve standards
- To disseminate information regarding the care of children and young people
- To assist nurses with personal development/training needs
- To maintain working relationships with link organisations and governing bodies to make our voices heard.
