Paediatric Nephrology Nursing Group

This group forms part of the RCN Ambulatory Forum, established nine years ago with representation from all 12 paediatric renal units in the UK and Ireland.

Purpose
To develop a forum for nurses to share ideas and expertise, and develop a network of expert paediatric nurses to improve the standards of care offered to children and families.

Aims

  • To provide a forum for paediatric nephrology nurses to network, acting as a resource for the public and other professional bodies
  • To provide national and international links for nurses
  • To continue to lobby for improved services for families and children in the UK and Ireland
  • To improve communication between units, share ideas and information, and develop the potential for research and audit
  • To set standards for treatments and delivery of care
  • To promote evidence-based practice
  • To lead and develop new paediatric nephrology nursing roles
  • To improve links within the RCN
  • To provide an annual conference in paediatric nephrology
  • To represent paediatric neprhology on working groups for NICE/NSF
