Children and Young People's Palliative Care Group
Background information
The first meeting of this special interest group took place in London in May 1999. There are approximately 400 nurses on the database, from hospital, community and hospice settings, who are providing palliative care for children with a range of life-limiting illnesses.
Mission statement
- We are a group of nurses with a special interest in paediatric palliative care.
- We aim to promote peer support through regular contact and by exchanging and sharing ideas, thereby increasing awareness of current practice.
- Through discussion and dissemination of relevant research and innovation, we will enhance practice and raise the profile of paediatric palliative care.
Aims
- To raise the profile of palliative care.
- To provide peer support.
- To promote evidence-based practice through sharing knowledge, experience and expertise.
- To promote collaboration between related groups and professionals within health, social and voluntary care settings.
- To influence standards, policies and practice in relation to paediatric palliative care.
