Top honours for Liz Fradd DBE!

Congratulations to Liz Fradd, Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing and children's nurse extraordinaire, who added to her considerable string of achievements in the 2009 New Year Honours list when she was appointed Dame of the British Empire.

Between 1973 and 1983 Liz held a variety of posts as a registered nurse, midwife and health visitor. She also trained as a children's nurse and managed children's units in Nottingham as well as working as a nursing officer at the Department of Health.

Since April 2004 she has been working as an independent adviser on health services and continues to take an interest in children's health as a Trustee for Contact a Family and the Rainbows Children's Hospice in Loughborough, and as an adviser to Action for Sick Children.
