Message from Claire Chatterton, Chair
I am delighted to be the new chair of the Royal College of Nursing’s History of Nursing Society. I have always been enthusiastic about the history of nursing and am very committed to protecting, preserving and cherishing our nursing heritage. The RCN’s History of Nursing Society is a long established body for those interested in the history of nursing and I look forward to working with the members of the society’s steering committee to-
• Continue to welcome those interested in all aspects of nursing history.
• Promote scholarship in this field including organising workshops and conferences.
• Maintain and build on our links with other history of nursing societies internationally and other groups related to this field e.g. history of medicine, women’s studies. We welcome the opportunity to work alongside and hopefully complement the newly-established UK Association for the History of Nursing (UKAHN).
