The Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service

The 2013 Service to commemorate the life and work of Florence Nightingale will be held at Westminster Abbey at 6.30pm on Wednesday 8 May.

The annual service will also celebrate nursing and midwifery and all staff, both qualified and unqualified, working in these services.

A lamp - symbolic of Florence Nightingale - will be taken from the Florence Nightingale Chapel during the service and escorted by a procession of nurses to the Dean who will place it on the High Alter.  This year the lamp will be carried by David Wright and it will be escorted by nursing and midwifery students from Leicester De Montfort University.
