Nurses in conflict

The Scottish Screen Archive is a film and video collection of over 100 years of Scotland's history.

The film 'Scottish Women's Hospitals' from 1917 shows daily life in one of fourteen field hospitals set up by the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies in European theatres of war, entirely staffed by women. Much of the work was done by Dr. Elsie Inglis.

The setting is Front line hospital at Villers, Cotterets, France, (film partly shot in Salonika).
