RCN Richard Hough In-Flight Nurses Bursary
The RCN In-Flight Nurses Association, announced at its 2006 Autumn Professional Development Day a bursary for nursing working in the in-flight practice.
Named the "Richard Hough" In-Flight Nursing Bursary, the RCN IFNA Steering committee set up funding up to a maximum of £250 per sucessful applicant to support developments in in-flight nursing practice
The In-Flight Nurses Forum has agreed that any forum member should be able to apply for funding.
Applications for funding may be made to allow forum members to:
- attend relevant professional meetings and conferences
- undertake small pieces of research, study, projects or visits to improve patient care in their specialty.
Criteria
Applicants must:
- be a member of the RCN In-Flight Nurses Forum
- submit an abstract, outlining the purpose of the request, and expected learning outcomes
- describe how the request will benefit patients and/or colleagues in the specialty
- produce an outline of how learning will be disseminated
- submit aims and objectives of the request including syllabus for a course or conference, if appropriate, and the relevance of the programme to the specialty with details of funding required
- submit a report within two months of completion to the In-Flight Nurses Forum steering committee, of which a summary will be published in the forum's newsletter
- submit a poster and report to the annual In-Flight Nurses Forum study day/conference.
Conditions
- applications will be prioritised by the benefits to patient care
- full or part funding may be awarded
- applicants should demonstrate any other sources of funding approached
- applications will be considered by the steering committee in their next meeting
- applications may be considered outside a meeting in exceptional circumstances
- receipts for costs incurred will be required to support payment.
