'Wish I'd said that!'
A helicopter was flying above Seattle when a malfunction disabled all its navigation and communications equipment. Owing to darkness and haze, the pilot could not determine the helicopter's position and course to get back to the airport.
A tall building came into view. Flying towards it, he told the passenger to draw a sign reading "Where am I?" and hold it up for the building's occupants to see.
Those in the building quickly responded with a large sign: "You are in a helicopter."
The pilot waved, looked at his map, set the course to the airport and landed safely.
The passenger asked : "But how did that sign help you determine our position?"
The pilot responded: "It had to be the Microsoft support building. They gave me a technically correct but entirely useless answer."
