Health protection during armed conflict: resolution passed at the World Health Assembly
At the 65th World Health Assembly in Geneva in May 2012, World Health Organisation (WHO) member states adopted a resolution requiring the WHO to lead international data collection on attacks involving health workers, facilities, transportation and patients during armed conflicts.
The Royal College of Nursing was among many organisations which had signed up to an international health protection initiative in support of the resolution. Chief Executive and General Secretary Peter Carter wrote to Andrew Lansley, the Secretary of State for Health, to ask him to support the resolution.
