Preceptorship framework for newly registered nurses, midwives and allied health professionals

The Department of Health has published a revised preceptorship framework that now covers midwives and allied health professionals as well as nurses.

The document provides a definition of preceptorship, describes the key elements of good preceptorship and suggests outcome measures to ensure that the individual needs of newly qualified nurses, midwives and allied health professionals are met. There are a number of references to the KSF throughout the document.
