New learning and development materials launched!

A new suite of materials advertising resources from the Learning & Development Institute are now ready to order. The aim of the materials is to encourage more members to use our products and services and to increase their overall engagement with the RCN.

Adverts - the printed adverts feature real-life testimonials and are intended to help members identify with the benefits of our products which can improve their care, career and workplace. You can view examples of the adverts (PDF 552KB).

Leaflets - these three leaflets provide a customised overview of the Learning & Development resources relevant to full members, students and health care assistants.

HCA resources

The RCN has produced new resources that are now available for you to assist with HCA recruitment. They cover subjects such as writing a CV and interview skills. These, as well as many other resources and materials, are available on the HCA section of the RCN website.

RCN Direct - Resources

These pages provide lists of popular resources, including factsheets and guides, publications and learning zone articles. As a learning representative, you may find these pages useful when signposting members to RCN resources on issues such as bullying, shift patterns and discrimination. Where appropriate, members are signposted to the RCN Learning Zone as well as to other areas of the RCN website.

RCN Direct - Factsheets

The factsheets and guides page provides members with support on a variety of issues such as statement writing, coping with stress and preparing for investigatory meetings. This page may be useful for you as a LR as well as a page for you to signpost members to.

Mail out to experienced LRs in England

In May 2010 the ULF Project Team sent out a package of resources and information to all experienced LRs in England. The purpose of the mailing is to:

Among the resources was a LR Questionnaire designed to enable LRs express their thoughts about the role of the LR. This questionnaire will be sent to all newly accredited LRs in July 2010 to ensure they are able to give their thoughts too.

Promoting the value of RCN Learning Representatives

In August 2008, a workshop designed for LR's was held at RCN HQ to enable them to understand and experience the range of learning resources and opportunities available to support them in their RCN/workplace role. An outcome from the day was that the LR's who attended the workshop created a presentation available for all LR's to use themselves in their workplaces. E-library and remote access presentation

The e-library provides free access to online information at members' desktops. The RCN Activists section of the website contains a presentation for representatives to use to introduce members to RCN library resources and services.
