Goodbye to Kathy
Kathy French left the RCN in July 2008, at the end of her contract, after six years as Sexual Health Adviser.
Kathy worked extensively as an abortion counsellor and family planning nurse in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham. She has championed many sexual health issues including recognition for nurses being able to fit IUDs and subdermal implants. She has strongly supported training and development for sexual health nurses and is a keen advocate of facilitating young men using contraceptive and sexual health services. She extended and consolidated her knowledge by successfully undertaking an MSc in medical ethics.
Kathy has represented sexual health nursing at many meetings with the Department of Health, Teenage Pregnancy Unit, fpa, IAG, and the Faculty of Reproductive Health Care.
Kathy is a warm and caring person, and we on the RCN Sexual Health Forum committee have really appreciated her support and knowledge, and will miss having her around! We send her our best wishes for a happy future.
We also say a big thank you to Anne Elliott who worked as our administrator, but has now moved to another forum. Thanks, Anne, for all your hard work on our behalf.
