Accreditation of nurse practitioner programmes
The RCN has been the leader in establishing the competences for advanced nurse practitioner practice and developing standards for programmes of preparation for advanced nurse practitioners.
The RCN Accreditation Unit has been accrediting nurse practitioner degree programmes since 2002 and to date has accredited more than 20 programmes across the country from Bournemouth to Aberdeen, including distance learning students accessing the course from as far afield as China, Pakistan and Nigeria via Cumbria University.
RCN accreditation is available to higher education institutions providing advanced nurse practitioner education and under this model students will be graduates of an RCN accredited advanced nurse practitioner programme.
