RCN endorsement of professional standards
National standards and evidence-based resources developed by other organisations are often of relevance to nursing. Endorsement of such standards by the RCN can help in promoting widespread use by the nursing profession.
RCN endorsement of an externally produced professional standard means the RCN has evaluated it as being fit for national/UK nursing practice and that it conforms to our quality criteria for professional standards.
Endorsement applies to publications that:
- are of direct relevance to nursing and concerned with services, practice, staffing levels and/or competences
- have national or UK applicability
- are provided on a non-commercial basis, for example no cost for use, not associated with a specific product etc
- meet RCN quality standards.
If you are developing a publication for which you would like to seek RCN endorsement, please contact us early so we can contribute an RCN view to the development (if this is appropriate).
In order to undertake necessary reviews before endorsement, please complete form END1 (Word 91KB) and submit your request at least three months before your own publication date.
Publications and other resources that are to be marketed or have some other commercial basis would not be endorsed but may be suitable for RCN accreditation.
