Services for users with dyslexia or dyspraxia

We want to make sure that every member can use our libraries and electronic services.

Please alert us to your needs so that we can do our best to meet them. Individual inductions can be arranged, and staff will be happy to help you use our services.

If you think there is any other way we can support your information needs, please speak to a member of staff on 0345 337 3368 or in person at any of our libraries or email service.delivery@rcn.org.uk

In our libraries we have the following specialist equipment:

  • magnifying sheets, magnifiers and line readers
  • reading pens which can scan entire lines of text and allow selected words to be viewed in large type
  • large print keyboard and large VDU screen.

Members can request books they have found on the catalogue to be put aside for them to collect or be posted out by:

Full members may also request literature searches which take approximately 10 working days. We can supply the search in the font, font size and coloured paper of your choice, please advise when making the request. Further details of this and other useful services can be found in Borrowing and services.

The e-library is available 24/7 with access to over 700 e-journals, 400 e-books and a range of databases including British Nursing Index. Go to RCN e-library.
