e-book access problems
There is currently an issue when linking to e-books directly from the library catalogue, please go to the e-books webpage to search for titles within the MyiLibrary and EBSCOhost suppliers.
Wireless access
It is now possible to obtain Wi-Fi access to your laptop from within the RCN headquarters library. Please ask at the library desk for more information on obtaining a username and password.

Virtual enquiry service
An out of hours service operates from midnight to 11.00am Sunday to Friday. Access the chat service.
Accessing e-resources
Access to the British Nursing Index database has changed as of 1 December 2011 and is now supplied through ProQuest. There is a brief guide to searching BNI on this platform available from the databases to search page.
If you experience problems linking to articles from British Nursing Index (BNI) to our Ebsco resources or you are being prompted for an Ebscohost login when using the e-library, please try one of the following solutions:
- go back to the A-Z journals list and choose a title published by Ebsco. For example, opening the link to AACN Bold Voices, which will install the Ebsco cookie. Retry accessing the article again by following the link in your British Nursing Index results list.
- Alternatively enter the temporary login details as listed on the Ebscohost webpage.
Clearing cookies
If you still cannot access e-library resources you should clear the cookies from your internet browser and retry your search. To do this in selected web browsers please see the attached documents. How to clear cookies in;

What is the e-library?
The e-library gives you access to the services we provide from outside the RCN premises. The RCN e-library gives you the option to search for journal articles using online databases such as British Nursing Index (BNI) and Cinahl, you can view e-books, see our frequently asked selected topics (Fast) and view useful websites for your subject. The library catalogue is also available for you to carry out your search for books, journals, theses, e-books and DVDs.

If you do not have Adobe reader or alternative software on your PC, you can download the PDF reader from the Adobe website.
