UK learning resource centres

Royal College of Nursing resource centres have been developed to provide RCN members with increased access to information resources. They are designed to fill gaps in information provision and complement the service offered by RCN Library and Information Services. The aim of the resource centres, which are open to all RCN members and staff employed by the partner organisation, is to provide local access to information for nurses to meet individual information and lifelong learning needs.

There are three main types of resource centre offering the following services:

Learning resource centre

Set up in partnership with other libraries these resource centres offer library facilities (reference only for those not employed by the partner organisation), free internet access, computer facilities, journals, RCN, NMC etc publications.

Information point

Set up in partnership with nursing agencies, nursing homes and hospital sites, these resource centres offer free internet access, a computer, TV and video, journals, RCN, NMC etc publications. Some also run RCN accredited training courses.

Kiosk

Set up in partnership with nursing homes, these resource centres offer quick reference facilities and will provide RCN, NMC etc publications and a small journal collection.
