Venous leg ulcers

Introduction

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) made the following statement in 2010 with regard to appraisal of new treatments for venous leg ulcers:
"Following discussions with the Department of Health and Welsh Assembly Government, together with consultees involved in this appraisal, the Institute's Guidance Executive has decided to withdraw this topic from the Institute's technology appraisals work programme and incorporate it into the NICE clinical guidelines on wound care management."
See NICE appraisal of new treatments for venous leg ulcers.

A more recent clinical guideline was published by the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) in 2010, see Management of chronic venous leg ulcers.
